Magnolia,10 in. diameter. Our street in Pasadena is lined with beautiful Magnolia trees. These trees are not native and best suited for more humid climates. The drought was not kind to the one across the street from us and it came down. I saved the main trunk and feel a responsibility to make beautiful things out of this remarkable material. This is the first.
It is finished with walnut oil. I've kept the feel of the wood natural by not over-polishing it.
