This vessel is emblamatic of the remnant series. Fire changes things. This piece is sycamore transformed by fire to be stronger than it was before. The shape is slightly warped by the drying of the wood. The black is carbon from fire, the grey is tannic acid. There are five distinct steps to achieve this finish, the process is complex, but that doesn't matter. What matters is the outcome—essential beauty.
