SOLD NONEOFAKIND Edition 005, 0126 (set of 13)
Siberian elm, finished in Walnut oil. Each bowl is 4' x 5". This Siberian elm toppled over in a storm at the beginning of 2022. It was my first time working with this material. The grain is very similar to Chinese elm yet the material itself is 25% lighter. These pieces were turned with the intention of keeping a set together. They were stored for eight months and allowed to cure before finishing. It's remarkable to live with a piece for many months. Watching it change feeling it's water and moisture evaporate, and finally revisiting it to finish. The very thin sapwood ring has been left on each of the bowls. They cut a striking silhouette, when used together, and have a distinct pattern that undulates across a table top. This, baker's dozen of siberian elm bowls would be a great addition to any pantry,
